Birth Story
“When we first heard about the possibility of a photographer joining us in the delivery room, we were skeptical to say the least. And so was everyone that we would mention it to over the upcoming weeks. After all, the first thought is graphic images that are associated with daytime baby birthing shows. Who is going to want to use a picture of a contorted face, writhing in pain as their FaceBook profile picture, or hang a photo of the post-natal bloodbath on their wall in the hallway? These questions, and many more, ran through our minds as we went to meet Dani for the first time.
Immediately we knew that we hadn’t only hired a professional, but also made a friend. She addressed all of our questions head-on, and by the end we were excited to see the end result. We were only allowed to have two “coaches” in the delivery room, so she counted as our second. She did a fantastic job comforting Kristie when she needed it, but was also respectful of giving us time alone when needed as well. She worked quietly, and efficiently from afar, never getting in the way of the doctors and nurses and minding the times when photo-taking was not appropriate.
In the end, we were given a beautiful photographic story of the birth of our first child. We look at the pictures on a daily basis, and it will forever serve as a reminder of one of the most important and significant events of our lives.
Dani is a fantastic photographer and her work shows a level of expertise that one would expect from a hired professional. Beyond that, she is a caring individual who we are pleased to call a friend, and I have already recommended her to countless family and friends. Her loving nature shows in her work, and it will serve her well into the future.”
