Every wedding is special to me in some way, shape, or form. After all, it’s an honour to be trusted with such an important day in these people’s lives. I always find myself feeling like Ive been friends with my brides and/or grooms for years leading up to and after, because of the intimacy of the day that I get to be a part of. In Bailey and Rick’s case, I have know her since we were 5, which only made the day so much more meaningful. And from the moment I met Rick, I felt like we’ve been friends for years.
I met her in kindergarten, we became friends, and we were inseparable in grade 6+7. Our birthday’s were only a day apart and that was absolutely a bonding moment for us back in the day. We lost touch in high school and for some years after that, then reconnected only a few months before she got engaged! We both agreed ” keeping it in the family” and having me shoot her wedding would be incredibly special for the both of us!
There is so much to say about this day! I guess I could start with the weather. Now, those who live in BC, especially out in Chilliwack, know that it rains…a lot. When the weather is calling for rain…it’s definitely going to rain. Those who live here in NB, know that the weather may call for one thing, then completely change within an hour to something completely different. That’s just how we roll. Well I guess I brought some of my lucky changing weather magic with me because the weather was calling for absolute pouring rain the entire day, and it misted for 2 minutes, in total. Not even enough to get us wet. PHEW.
We got ready at the Ramada Plaza, where the amazing Melody Calderón, was at it with both amazing hair and makeup for all the girls! Bailey looked absolutely picture perfect and her dress was stunning. I hopped over to meet the boys at Rick’s dad’s property, which is where the ceremony was held. I took some quick snaps, then we headed over and set ourselves up for the first look. Rick and Bailey’s first look was so beautiful and so emotional! Both in tears and both so happy to see each other! We took advantage of the clear weather and had our first mini couple’s session before the ceremony. The ceremony was simple, elegant, and intimate. After the family photos we headed to a few stranger’s back yards, that we had found the day earlier, to do our photos at! These photos make me laugh, and some bring tears to my eyes! You will see what happens when four tiny bridesmaids attempt to pick up the groom…and the infamous groomsmen sock test proves to bring a few giggles.
Nearing the end of our photos, the sun came out, and it warmed right up, meanwhile 10 minutes away, it was pouring! SO LUCKY. The reception was held at the Rancho, where the decor, ambiance, and the food couldn’t have been better!
Bailey and Rick love each other. A lot. I mean, A LOT. You can see it in every single movement, every look, and with every word. They are both such kind, gentle, and warm hearted people. I couldn’t imagine a better match for Bailey. I am so humbled by the fact I was asked to be there for an old friend on her big day. She was such a stunning bride and so easy going. They were both surrounded by love and I wish them all the health in happiness in the world, for the rest of their lives.
