I have been friends with Sarah’s younger sister, Kaitlin, since I was 16 and after just seeing Sarah again for the first time in years back in December, at Kaitlin’s wedding, I was ecstatic to learn that she was expecting. When I heard from Sarah just a few weeks later to ask me to capture her maternity photos, I was over the moon. We quickly found a date that worked for us before it got too close to her due date.

With the clouds looking ominous, yet the rain holding off, we headed to Stanley Park on a Sunday afternoon. We had some beautiful landscape and urban backdrops and lucky for us the rain never came, and the sun peeked through! It was mild and mid January, and we didn’t even need jackets. These two were such naturals in front of the camera and I am so grateful to have been able to capture their first baby maternity photos!

These two have since given birth to a handsome baby boy, and I wish them all the best in their parenthood journey!

Let me start off by saying I was gifted with incredibly beautiful friends who let me take photos of them, and I couldn’t be more grateful of that! Tanya is one of the sweetest, funniest, and most loveable lady I’ve ever met in my life. She also is stunningly beautiful and insanely photogenic, which in turn makes me love her even more when she agrees to step in front of my camera. She moves naturally and at ease, like she’s been modelling her entire life! I doubt anyone could go through these photos and not smile just from seeing her smile, because I had a smile from ear to ear throughout her entire session.

Tanya was one of the first people I ever photographed when I first started my career, and I couldn’t be happier to capture her glowing face and perfect bump three years later. You can’t tell from the photos, but this day was FREEZING cold. End of May and 6 degrees, plus lovely gusts of wind,  which is not the best time to be outside in a dress. She was such a trooper and powered through it all. Lots of smiles and giggles throughout our session. I’m surprised I was able to hold the camera sturdy enough to capture her laughs as I was laughing just as hard on the other end!  We met on a dear friend’s farm out in Memramcook where we admired our surroundings and found perfect spots to shoot!

I honestly feel so lucky to have friends like these in my life and I cannot wait for the birth of her second born child this summer, where I’ll hopefully be able to sneak a few birth story pictures!
