What not many people know about me is that I wasn’t born in BC. I was actually born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, fun fact, right? Myself, and both my older siblings were born there, but we moved down to Aldergrove, BC, very shortly after my first birthday. My parents left behind good friends that we called Aunt and Uncle, and their children, our cousins. Now, because Grande Prairie, is a 11-13 hour drive from here, we didn’t get to see them as much as we wanted growing up, but when their youngest child, Colin, proposed to the love of his life, his parents wanted their gift to them to be having me travel up there for their wedding. Pretty amazing gift, in my mind! I was able to photograph my pseudo cousin’s wedding whom I haven’t seen in 18 years with my new husband ( that’s right ya’ll, for those that don’t know, I got married this summer! ) in my birth town, where I hadn’t been in 28 years. It was a wild summer!
Now when I first spoke with Jordan on the phone, I knew we were going to get along great when she began to explain her back yard wedding on the property she grew up on. Her bubbly personality and enthusiasm for life made her such a joy to work with. Colin had me laughing all day with his super but hilarious dry sense of humour. Both the ceremony and reception would take place there and all the photos would be either on their property or their two gracious neighbours property. Jordan and Colin had such an amazing crew that made this day come together for them. Serious squad goals.
The food was amazing, the doughnut bar and water bar was thoughtful and delicious, the atmosphere was bubbly and full of love, and you’ve never seen people dance at a wedding reception like you do in Alberta…They take it seriously you guys and the photos speak for themselves!
I loved hanging out with these two and their entire bridal party. They had the perfect day and we were so lucky the wildfire smoke cleared just enough for us! Congratulations you two, I am so happy for you!
