Welcome to The DLR Photography Blog!
A little about how I started…
Since I can remember, I have always been “that” girl, who had to get a photo of whatever and whoever I could, even if it meant annoying those around me with prolonged wait times in order to “get the shot”. I received my first real digital camera for my graduation present back in 2007. A Canon Rebel XTI. It was beautiful and I faithfully carried it around with me everywhere I went. I swear I have back problems from carrying it in my purse for all those years.
Even though I loved photography and cameras, I never really thought about it as a career until 2010. I was in theatre School in Vancouver when myself and a girlfriend decided to drive across Canada for the summer and stay with her family in Moncton. I had been thinking a lot about a career change from one starving artist profession, to the next, and within only a month of arriving my decision had been made. I had decided that I was going to buy my first real camera and lens, stay on the east coast, and not go back to the west or to theatre school. This time, I decided to go with Nikon ( best choice ever!). I shot anyone and everyone I could, started a facebook fan page and within only a month, I received my first paying portrait session. I quit my full time job four months later and took on photography full time.
Now for the last year and one month, I have been living, breathing, and continuing to follow my dreams. I have many goals I’d like to accomplish in the next year, some big, some small. I cannot wait to share those with you! Till the next blog post…
