After much anticipation all summer, my cousin’s cabin wedding in the Kootenays finally arrived, and it was well worth the wait. We were surrounded by the most beautiful mountain range, a gorgeous lake, family, friends, and pizza. Nothing wrong with that!
I stayed next door to the bride the night before the wedding at the legendary Hume Hotel ( Nelson, BC ) and was able to capture the sun rising over the mountains hitting her dress perfectly on the day of, which was a beautiful start to the day. I loved being able to hang out with my cousin all morning and help her get ready for her big day as well as photograph her big day. After a relaxing and stressfree morning getting ready, popping some champagne and fawning over the bride, we headed across the street to the gorgeous City Hall for the first look and first few couples photos. ( I love first looks ) We then made our way out of Nelson, after capturing a few with the classic Nelson bridge in the background, on to our next destination which was about 15 minutes passed our cabins.
The weather was warm, humid, and smokey on and off throughout the day as there were many fires, some within close range of us. We chose a beautiful spot the day before when we were scouting locations called Coffee Creek which is a glacier fed creek nestled between two mountainsides that leads into the main lake. We set aside time to have lunch, a few drinks, and some time to just relax and take it all in before continuing on with photos. We finished at Coffee Creek around 2:30pm and headed down to our family property for the ceremony. It was a short and sweet ceremony filled with their own vows, laughs, and love and support from over 100 friends and family. After some cocktail hour snacks, we took some family photos on the property next door, mingled, had an insanely delicious artisan pizza dinner, followed by sunset photos on the beach, speeches, and a heck of a lot of dancing!
To say Leanne and Andrew were relaxed and easy going on their wedding day would be an understatement. Things went smoothly and there seemed to be zero stress at all. All that seemed to matter was getting married, being surrounded by their closest friends and family, and enjoying themselves! Leanne’s smile and laugh really was contagious the entire day. I am so honoured to have been able to capture these memories for my cousin and my new cousin-in-law! Can’t wait to experience the next chapter of life with you both! I love family weddings.
