Why We Love DLR Photography
“My fiancé and I were fairly reluctant to get our photos taken, even for an important event like our wedding. Neither of us takes very good photographs. Whenever the camera is pointed at him, my partner immediately stops smiling; I tend to show my teeth, but I’m usually looking away from the camera (for an exit). So … posing for a whole hour during an engagement shoot did not appeal to us—and the thought of having to look at the photos later made us cringe.
But from our first meeting, Dani was reassuring. She worked with us through our apprehension and misgivings. She’s young and fun and upbeat, and her enthusiasm made us excited too. When time for the photo shoot came, we quickly realized that Dani was a professional through and through. Even though we had to put off the engagement session until *the week* before our wedding, she was understanding and accommodating. She listens to her clients, and if she does (gently) push you out of your comfort zone, it’s because she knows the shot will work.
On the day of the wedding, when I was running late and we only had one hour to drive to our ceremony location and take photos, she was single-minded, efficient, and calm. And MOST IMPORTANTLY, ladies: if your hair stylist screws up your bangs and they’re flopping around like a hot mess on your wedding day, Dani will not only tell you this, but she help you fix them periodically throughout the day. She cares that much.
Dani not only helped us capture a very special time in our lives, but she actually (I’m tearing up as I write this) changed how I see myself. I always thought of myself as “not-bad-looking” in person, but ugly in photos. When I saw how I looked in Dani’s photos—saw that I actually looked pretty!—and told my husband this, he said “That’s how I see you everyday.” So, thank you, Dani, for helping me see what my partner sees in me.”
