This was my second time working with Stefanie and Kathleen. The first time I had worked with them was when they found me through an Ad I had posted searching for same-sex couples about 6 months ago. Our theme back then was roller derby, those photos are still some of my favourites to this day. Yet again I posted another ad looking for a couple who could ice skate because I was looking to shoot on the outdoor rink in Officer’s Square, Fredericton. Stefanie was one of the first people to message me. We quickly found a day that would work for all three of us and went with it.
I had the girls over to my house first and I did both their hair and makeup. Stefanie and Kathleen are not only so easy to get along with, but they are as much in love behind the camera as they obviously are in front of the camera. As we were headed downtown Fredericton the most amazing snow started to fall. You all know the kind… The romantic, fluffy, perfect “first kiss” kind of snow. Excitement invaded every inch of me! I couldn’t get there fast enough.
Luckily the rink wasn’t busy as it was a Wednesday afternoon, though we did acquire an audience at one point. A very very curious little boy. We laughed pretty hard as he stood either directly in front of them of behind them, photobombing quite a few pictures. The weather was also great to us, only being -6 that day ( tshirt weather…almost! ).
I love working with Stefanie and Kathleen. Not only do they make each other smile, but they make me smile with how beautiful and in love they both are. I feel so honored to have not only worked with them once, but twice…And we have a few more shoots up our sleeve for the spring and fall. I cannot wait till this couple’s wedding in August 2014.
